Annelis Thorsen-Cavers

Overview

Annelis Thorsen-Cavers is a partner at Rochon Genova. Since joining the firm in 2002, her practice has focused principally on class action litigation, with a particular emphasis on pharmaceutical and medical device cases.

Annelis is a graduate of the University of Waterloo and the University of Windsor. While at Windsor, her team placed second in the Arnup Cup Trial Advocacy Moot Competition, before she was called to the Ontario bar in 1999.

Since joining Rochon Genova, Annelis has been an integral member of the firm’s class action team and has been involved in the litigation and settlement administration of a number of landmark cases. These include proceedings relating to diet drugs, Baycol, Prepulsid, Serzone, contaminated meat, Bextra and Celebrex, Vioxx, defibrillator batteries, defibrillator leads, and ACTOS and generic pioglitazone.

In addition to her litigation work, Annelis has contributed to the drafting and editing of numerous Rochon Genova conference papers. She is also the co-author, with Joel Rochon, of The Emotional Consequences of Personal Injury, second edition.
