LAWYERS FOR AVIATION ACCIDENTS

Legal support for aviation accidents, aviation-related class actions, safety issues, and consumer-related airline matters.

AVIATION LAW SUPPORT

TRUSTED COUNSEL FOR COMPLEX AVIATION CASES

Aviation is a complex field in which many professions, manufacturers and businesses combine to move passengers and cargo around the world. Rigorous safety standards and complex laws and regulations govern practices within the industry. When something goes wrong, the potential for disaster is high.

We step in when things go wrong within the industry, either through breakdowns in safety that cause personal injury, loss of life and tragedy or through mismanagement or dishonest business practices that cause economic losses to consumers of airline services.

Aviation Accident Litigation

We have represented clients in matters involving general aviation and commercial aviation accidents across Canada and internationally. Our lawyers work with leading aviation, engineering and safety experts to investigate what happened, identify those responsible, and pursue fair compensation for victims and their families.

Our experience includes cases involving:

  • Commercial airline crashes and runway overruns
  • General aviation accidents involving private and light aircraft
  • Mechanical and maintenance failures
  • Aircraft design and manufacturing defects
  • Pilot error and operational failures
  • Air traffic control issues
Aviation Class Actions and Consumer Claims

Our aviation practice extends beyond accident litigation. We have represented passengers in aviation class actions and individual claims involving:

  • Flight delays and cancellations
  • Hard landings and other in-flight incidents
  • Excessive or improper airline charges
  • Consumer protection issues
  • Other disputes arising from airline services
Advancing Aviation Safety

Our commitment extends beyond obtaining compensation. We are dedicated to improving aviation safety through accountability.

One of our lawyers served as Counsel and Director of Research to the Commission of Inquiry into the Air Ontario Crash at Dryden, Ontario, led by the Honourable Virgil P. Moshansky. The Commission investigated the March 10, 1989 crash of Air Ontario Flight 1363, which claimed the lives of 24 people.

Over more than two and a half years and 160 hearing days, the Inquiry produced a landmark multi-volume report that led to significant improvements in aviation safety in Canada and influenced aviation practices internationally.

Specialized Aviation Knowledge

Aviation litigation requires an understanding of far more than the law. Our lawyers have extensive experience navigating the complex technical, regulatory and commercial issues that arise in aviation disputes, including:

  • Canadian and international aviation law
  • Federal and international regulatory regimes
  • Aviation safety standards
  • Aircraft design, manufacturing and maintenance
  • Airline operations and airport management
  • Air traffic control systems
  • Accident reconstruction and technical investigations

This experience allows us to work effectively with engineers, accident investigators, pilots and other industry experts to build strong cases on behalf of our clients.

Our lawyers have acted in matters arising from:

  • Continental Connection Flight 3407 (Buffalo, New York, 2009)

Prior to joining Rochon Genova, one of our lawyers spent more than 15 years representing aviation insurers in London, New York and Toronto, defending claims involving numerous international airlines, airports and aviation manufacturers. This experience provides valuable insight into how aviation claims are investigated, defended and resolved.
